Our true self sees beyond the illusion of fear

Our fears are mental patterns of thought, often tied to conditioning or past trauma, and differ largely from a physical threat. There is a vast difference between danger and fear. Danger serves as a warning for safety while our fears serve as an invite for inquiry and reflection. It’s the fears that cause us to contract and go against the very nature of our existence, resulting in self-perpetuating patterns that foster stress, anxiety and disconnection.

Cause of fears

The core of our fears are often deeper than the initial thought itself. For example, the fear of death is often masked by a fear of living in a way that is authentic with our true self. It is a fear of authentic self-expression! At the level that we bring awareness to this, we expand beyond. If we avoid our fears or attempt to run from them, we perpetuate the struggles through slight changes of scenery, until they consume us. By facing our fears with awareness, we release the control-based thought patterns and surrender into a state of allowing. Question and reflect on your fears and notice what arises. Then imagine how you might live or be without those fears and notice what awareness brings through you to shift into that state.

Unwavering faith

In the state of allowing, our resistance subsides and our true essence comes through. We remember who we are and whole-heartily embrace all aspects of the self. As we go into the self, infinite layers continue to unfold, each leading into greater awareness and expansion. Our inner confidence becomes unshakable, as it is no longer measured by the ego, which seeks external validation through accomplishments or things. As we embrace our true self, we drop into complete and unconditional self-acceptance, which invokes a deep feeling of acceptance that is independent of circumstances or things. This inner confidence is perhaps one of the quickest paths to building unwavering faith.

Our point of focus

Faith and fear are polar opposites and expand naturally through our point of focus. Faith requires practice, like a mental muscle that is strengthened through exercise. It is the result of living from an inner state of conviction, a state of knowing, rather than a state of believing. Belief is simply one of the steps, that when developed, leads to the state of knowing. The difference is in the feeling. As children, we understand this natural process of trusting life, and fully embrace each moment as though it is the only moment, without stories or past pain.

Present living

As one lives from this state of being, they remain connected to their true self, in faith, allowing them to see beyond the illusions of fear. The gifts within each fear reveal themselves and our power restored. During the growth phases of faith building, repetition is key. Go back into silence and embrace anything resisted. Shift into curiosity with every experience, and the hidden will become seen. Your imagination, backed by heart-centered presence, is the guide.
