Stillness, the act of embracing silence, offers guidance to any situation in life. When we are faced with a challenge or problem, we can drop into silence and find clarity on the next step to take. We may not get the full picture, and if not, additional clarity often comes after taking that first step. As long as we are in full alignment with the guidance, a feeling of ease will arise, a knowing. If there is an unsettling or anxious feeling, go back to your breath and wait until further clarity comes through. Guidance might come through in the form of a vision, mental imagery or inner dialogue. It is a matter of relaxing the mind and shifting beyond the problem into the state where the solution resides. The practice of embracing silence opens the doors to the intuitive realm.
Embracing guidance
Anytime we are faced with a problem, the solution exists simultaneously. Our ability to see the solution is merely hindered by mental strain, also known as the reactive mind. The reactive mind disconnects us from the heart and closes us off to guidance. Many of the great minds understood that solutions were available as they released control and went into silence. They incorporated methods like meditation, visualization, or naps for clarity and guidance. As we meditate (or sleep) on guidance, knowing that we will arise with the solution, it comes through every time. Often it occurs immediately upon waking and sometimes it takes a few days. It depends on how unconditional we remain with our approach. Attachment in any way, such as having a deadline, will only hinder the process as it implies the opposite, which is lack of the very thing itself. Instead shift into the state of knowing with complete trust and then let go. This is an act of living from the end in faith. In this act, we release the desire with a deep inner conviction that everything comes in perfect timing. This allows the mind to surrender into the state without any resistance. It is a journey of learning how to communicate with our innate abilities through the surrender and release process.
Present living
A daily practice of silence with heart-centered present living, opens one up to the playful and curious aspects of mind. From this state we remain free from conditions or control. It is a mind at ease with itself, completely free of resistance. Through practice, we expand with awareness around our thinking mind, allowing us to become the observer of our thoughts. As we progress, we expand into the intuitive realm. Our intuition is always available and attempting to communicate to us. It’s simply a matter of learning its method of communication, which can be different for everyone. Silence brings forth clarity and understanding. When in the silent state, practice with an inner dialogue of questions and notice how the answers come through. Notice how you feel and remain playful and curious with the process.
