Our fears are here to serve as an invite for expansion. If we resist our fears, we perpetuate their patterns. The majority of our fears are tied to conditioning, fear-based beliefs or the result of childhood trauma. Fears of safety serves as an invite to change course when faced with danger, our focus here is around the mental fears that cause us to restrict ourselves, to play small or feel stuck in life. Often our fears are associated to desires and as we inquire and bring awareness to them we expand into the desires fulfillment. For example, the desire to experience freedom could bring out limiting fears associated to lack or feeling secure. As we embrace the journey without resistance, we expand into the fulfilled desire.
Resisting fear
The things we resist perpetuate in our mind and manifest physically through our emotions and filters. In a way, our fears are fed through our own internal resistance. These mental fears are often triggered by insecurities, past trauma or fear-based beliefs. It is these fears that cause us to constrict, hide, or play small. For example, the fear of being accepted, causes one to avoid fully expressing themselves honestly and authentically. Here we find much benefit in questing our stories, as they often reveal the very thing that perpetuates our struggles. When we ignore our fears, they grow until eventually they consume us through self-sabotage. As we embrace, investigate and question our fears, we pass through them, gaining the wisdom along the way.
Meeting fear
In many ways, our fears are here to serve us in the journey of expansion. As we embrace our fears with present awareness, that is with a mind free from thought, we see through the illusions that our fears create. Through awareness we release any resistance that we have, allowing us to expand and see beyond. For it is the resistance that pushes back on change and perpetuates our struggles. Learn to embrace and welcome change as it impacts nearly every aspect of life. As we face our fears in our imagination, while in a safe place, we have the ability to notice the mental patterns and re-frame them. This helps shift our mental and vibrational state of being.
Visualization exercise
Find a safe place where you will not be disturbed. Drop into silence and follow your breath. As you begin to feel calm and centered within, visualize yourself facing your fears by creating a mental movie where you see yourself facing your fears. It is important to remain calm through this process. You may not be able to face all your fears at once, so go at your own pace. In this mental movie, look at the fears from outside the trauma or emotion, as you question and inquire into them, playfully like a child looking into a movie with the ability to view multiple perspectives. In this visual exercise, understand that you can alter the outcome and change it, as you have full power over your mental movie. There is no past, present or future, only the present moment, so when the outcome is changed the impression is altered. As you observe during this process, notice the lessons gained from the experience as you release the pain or trauma. Notice what is revealed as you go beyond your fears, seeing through the illusions they create. As we go through this, we find nothing remains but the wisdom gained and boundaries learned. We do not have to carry the pain with us to exercise boundaries or retain the wisdom.
Manifesting desires
On the other side of our fears resides a clear path to the obtainment of our desires. The emotion of fear contains a vibration that is constricting and limiting. As we embrace our fears, we grow into greater freedom. We see more clearly with greater potential for intuitive expansion. In a sense, we return to our child-like self, that encourages more playfulness and curiosity. This naturally invokes a non-resistant state of being, that allows us to live more presently, fully embracing each moment. From this state we are more willing to be vulnerable and express ourselves authentically, which is perhaps one of the greatest expansive experiences in life.
